How to Tighten a Towel Bar Without Set Screws?

People mostly install towel bars with set screws because of their easy installation. In addition, it is also an affordable option and is larger than a simple screw.

How to Tighten a Towel Bar Without Set Screws? You can tighten a towel bar without set screws by using glue, adhesive tapes, L-shaped brackets, simple screws, and grout filling. In addition, you can also use wall anchors, rubber strips, magnetic latches, and string or nails.

You can use other methods instead of set screws to fasten the towel racks on walls and doors. Some methods do not require drilling holes, and there is no damage to the walls.

Use Glue

Installing towel bars by using glue is an easy and affordable procedure. Moreover, it does not require any extra labor cost for their adjustment.

You do not need any screws and plumbing equipment for their tightening. Mark the walls with markers where you have to install them.

These contain the end pieces, and you have to apply glue on the boundaries of those endcaps. You have to carefully use glue that can easily adhere to the metal surface.

Quickly tighten the glued end with the wall before it becomes dry. Put some pressure on it for its better adherence.

Remove the excess glue from walls using a dry cloth or toilet tissues because these become difficult to clean after drying.

Leave it for about 1 to 2 days to dry the gluing material. Avoid hanging towels on them right after installation because they can come off due to heavy weight.

Adhesive tapes

The use of adhesive and double-end tapes is the method in which you do not need drilling holes and screws to install towel racks.

It is a suitable method for ceramic and concrete-based walls because these are hard to drill.

In addition, you can attach the bathroom accessories firmly on these surfaces by adopting non-screwing methods.

Purchase high-quality double-sided tape from the market that can secure the stainless-steel material.

Measure the length of the end pieces of the towel racks and cut the double sides tape according to them. Mark the required wall height and stick the tape on the marked point.

Firmly attach the fixture to the tape and press it for about 4 to 5 minutes for better securing.

In addition, it is better to check the weight-holding capacity of these adhesive strips while purchasing them.

Some of them cannot hold the weight of the towels and come off the walls. Select the ones of high quality and resistant to age and water-related damage.

Avoid using water in the bathrooms after their adjustment because moisture can cause them to become loose and less adhesive.

Use L-shaped brackets

L-shaped brackets of plastic and steel material are present in hardware stores, and you can select them for tightening towel bars on walls.

You can adhere these brackets on walls with screws and bolts. These contain the pre-drilled holes and screws in the kit.

Mark the points on the walls according to the length of the towel rack. Add two L-brackets on both the left and right sides to put the rack on it.

Add the rack on L-shaped brackets and fasten them with plastic slips so they cannot come out. These clips can keep the fixtures in their place, and these do not move forward and backward.

Grout or cement filling

You can use the grout and cement filling on the end piece of towel racks to tighten them on walls. You can try this method on dry, cemented, and ceramic walls.

Fill the end piece with grout material and secure it in the marked position. Sealing the side with this grout or cement material is also necessary to avoid wobbling issues.

The attachment with cement is firmer because of its adhesiveness. It is also better to dry cement for about 24 to 48 hours.

In addition, you can also use epoxy instead of grout filling. Scrap the excess cement, epoxy, and grout from the towel bar surface by sanding it.

Wall anchors

The best idea is to use the wall anchors to install towel racks on the bathroom walls. These are better because you do not have to tighten them frequently.

In addition, it reduces the wobbling issues because of their proper fastening. These do not become loose when you attach them with wall anchors.

Draw a straight line on the wall and mark it with a pencil so you can remove it after completing the installation.

Attach the two wall anchors in a straight line and at a suitable distance. Use the hammer to tap the anchors and adjust them inside the walls to increase their weight-holding capacity.

Attach the metal latches on the wall anchors for adjustment of end pieces of towel racks. Add the end pieces and slightly move them downward to secure them on latches.

Use rubber straps

You can purchase rubber straps from the market, which are also available in your homes. Moreover, you can also make the straps by cutting the old tires of your vehicle in your home.

You need the larger screw for fastening the rubber strap on the wall because of its thick material. Cut two straps with the same length to add it on both sides of the walls.

Fold the strap and use the thick screw to install them on the walls. Ensure that the distance between two straps is according to the length of the towel racks.

You cannot adjust them properly if the distance between them is too large. Add the metal or plastic rod on these two plastic strips and put your towel on it for drying.

Magnetic latches

Magnetic latches are available in the market to fasten the various materials on the walls. These can provide firm adherence because of the strength of their material.

These contain the magnetic at their end, and you can only secure them on stainless steel or aluminum doors.

Sometimes people add steel boards on the wall to secure various fixtures like towel bars, tissue paper holders, and other fixtures.

You can secure the two magnetic pieces present on their rear end with steel or aluminum board. Fastening on the aluminum door is easy, and you do not need to drill holes.

String and nails

You can hang the towel rod with string and nails for their adjustment. It is a suitable method for drywall because drilling holes is easier on drywall than ceramic or tiles material. In this method, you do not need set screws.

Find the studs in the walls with a stud finder device and then drill the hole with the drilling machine according to their location.

Drill the hole carefully by keeping the machine in a straight direction. The hole size should be according to the size of the screw.

Tie the string on the nails in a triangular direction, then add the rod on its lower side. Fasten the screws on the string with plastic clips.

You can also use the screw and bolts directly on the end piece of the steel bars. Drill the hole in their round structure and walls and fasten the screws in these holes.

Moreover, some of them also contain pre-drill holes and screws, and you have only to make holes in walls for their fastening.
