Soap dispensers are present outside the bathroom and have two parts. It contains a large container for filling liquid soap or handwashing detergent and a suction pump. You can mount them on walls and add them to the counters near vanity areas.
Common Problems with Bathroom Soap Dispenser include faulty sensors, broken push buttons, leakage of liquid soap, clogged pipes, and jammed spring of the pumping mechanism. Moreover, you can also face issues due to loose attachments on walls, mixing of scents, and less fancy designs.
These are available in various colors, designs, and materials, and you can select suitable materials according to the theme and color scheme of bathroom fixtures.
Bathroom soap dispenser problems | Solutions |
Faulty sensors | Clean the sensors |
Broken push button | Add new handle pump |
Dripping of liquid soap | Use drip trays |
Clogged pipes | Change soap or dilute it |
Jammed spring of pump mechanism | Replace pumps |
Loose attachment on walls | Use glass types soap dispensers |
Mixing of scents | Use the glass material |
Less fancy designs | Add soap liquid in glass dispensers |
Faulty sensors
The automatic soap dispensers are present in the bathroom to drip the limited amount of liquid on your hand when you take them closer.
Passive infrared sensors are present in these fixtures. These types contain sensors to detect the presence of body parts. The sensors in them emit infrared radiations to find the presence of the hand in the proximities.
Infrared radiations work by detecting the heat from the body and then triggering the activation of the pumping mechanism. Sometimes the sensors become faulty, and the liquid handwashing cleaner does not come outside.
The issue comes due to obstruction of the sensor because of dry soaps. Soap residues cover the sensor area and do not emit infrared radiation to detect body heat.
Moreover, these become faulty due to their poor and loose wirings. Furthermore, the weak batteries of sensors lead its malfunctioning.
Clean the sensors and remove the visible residues of soap. In addition, I prefer not to use abrasive hand cleaners because these can damage them.
Broken push button
The hand-driven soap dispenser is also present in bathrooms because these have less chance of malfunctioning. These contain the push button for their functioning instead of automatic sensors.
The hand cleaners come outside when you press this push button. The button creates the vacuum and triggers the outside movement of liquid.
Sometimes the push buttons become faulty and loose because of poor handling and use. As a result, these cannot return to their original position, which causes the dripping of liquid cleaner and its waste.
The problem comes when you press the push button hard and frequently. Furthermore, these also become faulty when multiple people use the same cleaners.
You can also replace the handle pump or push button and install the new one on containers.
Dripping of liquid soap
The dripping is common in soap dispensers with reservoirs or containers above the pump. The continuous dripping for a long-time causes wasting of liquid cleaners and money.
The issue comes due to the faulty installation of reservoirs on the walls. In addition, the overfilling of liquid cleaners in the containers can also cause this issue.
Moreover, the valves become loose and cannot control the flow. These can move outside because of damaged valves.
In addition, seals are also present between the pump and containers to control the movement of liquid handwashing detergent when these are not in use.
The broken seals cannot perform their function, and these can drip outside. The long-term dripping of detergents can also damage the floor and make the area yellowish.
Add the plastic drip tray on the lower side of these fixtures. The installation of drip trays avoids direct dripping on the floor and reduces slippering issues.
Clogged pipes
The soap dispensers often do not dispense liquid when you press the pump handle or buttons.
The issue comes due to clogging of pipes that cause hindrance in movement. The liquid detergents become dry and narrow the plastic pipes for smooth movement.
In addition, you can face this when using a thick liquid and the pipes are narrow. People do not know how to select them according to the thickness of the pipes.
The clogging comes when using glycerin base soaps that dry up quickly. Change the soaps and use the thin ones or make them dilute.
Check the holes and cracks in pipes because these also cause slow or little soap coming from the nozzles.
Jammed spring of pump mechanism
The spring allows the movement of the soap dispenser pump, and these can break because of poor use. The vacuum is created in the container when you press the pumps.
The springs retract, and the tube or pipe is filled with liquid, and you can receive it on your hand. These springs break because of their overuse.
In addition, people also press the pumps aggressively, which can cause their break. The spring loses its flexibility when you use them frequently.
The constant expansion and retraction of pumps affect the function of springs and increase the chances of their breaking.
There is no need to replace the complete hygienic dispensers when the spring becomes faulty. Instead, it is better to replace the pumps and install new ones.
Select high-quality pumps from the market that have strong springs and last longer.
Loose attachment on walls
Many people face issues with wall-mounted hygienic dispensers because of their material. These are installed on the walls using screws and bolts, which become loose with time.
In addition, some of these are also installed with double-sided adhesive tapes. The problem comes when these adhesive tapes lose their strength and come on the floor.
The plastic types are better for wall mounting because they are less likely to break when they drop on the floor due to the failure of adhesive tapes and mounting screws.
The glass types can break easily when these come on the bathroom floors, increasing your repurchasing cost.
Place the glass material products on counters instead of mounting them on walls.
Mixing of scents
It is difficult to properly clean plastic material soap dispensers because of their porous textures. The scents of the previous one penetrate into the inner layer, and you cannot remove it completely after washing.
It causes the mixing of old scents with new ones because of its porous material. Sometimes the mixing of soaps does not come up with good fragrances, and people do not like them.
In addition, it also produces white and dry lines on the sides of plastic bottles. I use hygienic glass dispensers because of their better cleaning.
You should not face the issue of mixing two scents after washing and cleaning them properly. However, it can give a fresh scent when you add new ones to them.
Less fancy designs
The plastic type bathroom soap dispensers are less costly, but these are simpler. However, these do not look attractive and fancy on the interior because of their simple design.
These come up in the market with limited designs and colors, and sometimes you cannot find the desirable ones because of limited variety.
The glass types look stylish due to the reflective glass surface. Moreover, the liquid soaps of different colors look nice and become prominent in them.
You can find different designs in them and add different colors of detergent to them due to their transparent body. Preferably use glass materials for these fixtures to enhance the appearance and add color.
